Here’s proof that I am working to get back into fighting shape and drawing again. Trying to strengthen my hands. The car accident’s injuries have turned into carpal tunnel in my hands. so holding a stylus can be a bit painful. Luckily, my heart and breathing issues are becoming more manageable, and losing 22 pounds has helped quite a bit.
I have a few more of these and then I hope to get back into comic pages. I’ll post some prep work for “Barcrawl of the Damned” as well.

So, if your a fan of Phineus, you’ve noticed that it’s been on hold for a while. This is all mostly due to health concerns. Spent quite a few nights in the ER in recent weeks and months. I’m feeling much better, physically, but I need to get my mind back in the game and fight the constant pain in my hands. While I am artistically hampered, I can occasionally get some drawing done.
What I have been able to get accomplished, is some printable 2D figures that can be used for One Page Rules’ Grimdark Fantasy Infected Army. This army just so happens to be based on the Phineus’ Cthulhu Cult, so it will end up being usable in an upcoming RPG/Board game I am developing. It’ll be based on my own Homegrown RPG (which is available on Drive Thru RPG) as we speak. I’ve been developing a hybrid RPG and Talisman-like game for Phineus.
I have a bunch of Pics over on my blog, of the stuff I’ve been working on, as well as all the comics in the archives. It’s just a bummer that all this happened during the 30th anniversary year. Stuff happens, I guess.
Stay tuned, I’m not done, just regrouping and trying to get healthy. I hope next year will be more productive.

I have been working on my One Page Rules Infected Colonies. I’ve based the army on the Cthulhu Cult I use in my comics. I’ll also be doing double duty with the figs, by using them as the baddies vs Phin, Sara and the gang’s figs for a special edition of my RPG set. So, finally back to doing some work. Comics are coming, as well.

Here’s an oldie that I don’t ever remember seeing by my buddy Dana Spallinger (AKA Anad?). Pretty sweet! He was also guest inker on half of Phineus issue 5, “Rotwang”. As always, good stuff!
The Hollow Earth hugs the inside of the core of the planet, gravity, induced by the push of the inner sun (the entombed avatar of the elder god, Shub Niggarath). There are various pints on the planet for one to enter the Hollow Earth, this map shows the overlay of where you’d enter from which Upper Earth locale.
This was a compilation of eyebrows I drew while drawing Weirdlings, collected by my buddy Dan Greenwald. I used to start every drawing with eyes, so no surprise I like animated eyebrows.
This was a color test for Phineus comics. I had avoided colors for a long while, mainly because I didn’t know how to do it. I even had half of “Ruins of a Moonlit Landscape” colored (poorly) up on the old Strumhaus site way back when. I really didn’t learn how to correctly color (I.E. using layers) until I did a few covers and colored all of Weirdlings. I believe I used this page as a test for Phineus. Here’s one that never got off the ground. Agnes Beam, Phineus’ great, great aunt, doing Victorian things in 1880’s Pittsburgh. Glenn Csonka even started work on a story. I may end up doing a time travel crossover with Agnes and Cole, eventually.
This was a fun doodle by my sister and nephew, Myles. They had a running joke and needed to see it in a drawing. Thanks, guys!
Here is Rotwang in all his glory. This is also me, at 20, in a bald cap in the basement of the house I was living in at the time. My buddy and photography major, John Burris took the pics. I added in the effects by superimposing an areosol spray, lit with a match. The magic of the darkroom!
I did a series of these and made up spell descriptions and how to cast them and made up a bound book! It was fun. If I can find the book, I may scan it and post it. Big if.
This was an initial sketch idea of Phineus for a solo strip I had planned to do, over 12 years ago. Never go very far into planning, but as you see he has the magic whiffle bat in the new comic, that I promise to get back to really soon!

My birthday was 2 weeks ago and I got some models as gifts, so I was distracted to build the backlog of models for my Squat armies. I found some very cool proxies from Bulldog and Meng. I have another Meng Tank I aim to convert into a Squat Battle tank on it’s way. The Bulldog robots, surprisingly ended up being the same size as the Ambots. Bot are the perfect size for Squat sized robots for my Guild Master.
Now that I have this out of my system, I can get back to some drawing.
Here’s a promo I used for conventions and pin ups in the printed books. It was a time I was trying to emulate 90’s comics, at the recommendation of Don Simpson, giving them sort of uniforms. It didn’t stick, thankfully, but here you go.
This was going to be Issue 2 cover art, I believe, when Issue 2 was going to be Goblins. I scrapped that idea for years, when I rebooted with “Largo”, after talking with then Editor-in -Chief of Marvel, Tom DeFalco. He instructed me to work ion my inks, and I ended up redoing the story. This one never saw print.
This was a one off I used as ashcan comics for conventions. A little space fantasy, robots and aliens. It was fun. The aliens showed up in Bastard Who.

I was looking through old art and found this. Totally forgot I was going to do Boy Wizard as a strip. Ended up doing a Phineus Issue with him, instead. Amazing what you can forget!
Here are the original Gil pages, warts and all, along with the first page of a reboot that didn’t go anywhere. These were originally done as strips in a local music magazine, Forum 69, back in the early 90’s.
