Inquisition

The only thing keeping me sane, right now, is Warhammer. I try to draw and I get stuck… I can work on models and I’ve started playing 40k again after 20 years.

I’ve got a cool store to play at, and they have an Oldhammer group. I’ve played a handful or 10th edition games and I have a Prohammer game (an amalgamation of 3rd-7th editions) on Friday, where I’ll be fielding my Daemonhunters.

Here’s some new and old pics of the growing army.

Here are some in game pics of my Agents fighting heretics.

Chimera 2 scratchbuild tutorial

I made a second Chimera, and I think Improved on it. These templates have a lot of fiddly bits to cut out by hand, but the detail looks good when all finished!

I’m pretty happy with all three, now.

One Page Rules Infected Colonies/ BOM Cthulhu Cult Papercraft Minis

Here is the completed sheets for you to download and print. They can be used for my RPG or as the Infected Colonies for One Page Rules. I worked briefly with OPR on these, but they wandered away from 2D minis. They were fun, though.

Phineus the RPG can be purchased HERE.

Scratchbuilt Chimera

I love the Inquisition in Warhammer 40k. I have several warbands of them in my collection. As they ally with my many armies, I need specialized transports for them. I already showed you my paperhammer rhino, so here is my paperhammer Chimera. (rhino shown for scale & upgrades I did on it)

Chimeras are extremely difficult to build, with all their weird angles and compartments. Hard but fun!

Next up will be an Inquistorial Mk1 landraider. It’ll be my third landraider to scratchbuild. After that, some sort of flyer for the Inquisition. So much fun.

Scratch building a Rhino

Modeling has been consuming my brain, as of late. I WILL get back to drawing, but I am having fun with this, again.

And I can’t just buy a tank kit and build it, I need to build it from scratch with cardboard, because, reasons. Well, the reasons are it’s more challenging, more fun (to me) and costs next to nothing.

Edit: I reworked the whole model after years and glowed it up. So much better!!

I’ve found some templates online and have fankensteined them together, with glue and spare bits. I’m quite happy with the process. I was able to print on chipboard as a guide, but all that will get painted over.

Here is a template I used as a base.

Here is another I have:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/17H1rIQzF6P7tChMvHzhXGT52VhaaFo-e/view?usp=sharing

And here is a template sheet I used to make it a MK 1. I also added leftover bits from various kits.

I aim to make a few of these to act as rhinos for my inquisition, whirlwind for my Spacemarines and chimera proxies for my Imperial Guard (part because I love the rhino chassis and part because I hate the chimera chassis & because rhinos are infinitely easier to build than chimera).

I have some weapons rigs worked up that I can swap out. Keeping weapons choices similar to chimera, the characteristics and stats are virtually the same rules wise in 8th edition. My core of Imperial Guards is RT era figures, and they ride in rhinos back then, so it fits!

As I whip up a few more,I’ll try and take more progress picks as I go and update here with them.

These are fun.

Rogue Trader Imperial Guard

Working on glowing up my ooooold school Imperial Guardsmen. They will work in conjuction with my Imperial Agents.

I have most of my Rogue Trader Imperial Guard done. I just need to base them all. Here is all my infantry, save my Storm Troopers, which I’ve kit-bashed to look like the 2nd ed. versions with the berets. I also have a lot of tanks.

Ordo Xenos

And with Inquisitor Quinn, my radical Xenos warband is complete.

I have a bunch of monsters to paint up, next.

New Minis

Alot of these bew minis are from Reaper. I’ll use them as PCs and NPCs for RPGs and some as Radical Ordo Xenos agents. These guys are nice and cheap and very cool to paint up.

Phineus characters miniatures

Hail, hail the gangs all here. Phineus, Sara, Rugnar, Maynard and Cole! And also, their pal, Hellboy!

Most are Reper miniatures, Phins head and most of Rugnar are from Frostgrave Wizards sprue. And bits from Stargrave and Games Workshop, too!

Ordo Chronos Strikeforce

And with this last squad of Rangers, my Ordo Chronos is done (for now at least).

Old and New Minis

While I try and figure out what I am doing with my comics, I am continuing to paint through my pile of shame. I got some of the newer D&D minis and painted up a Beholder and a Grell (both seen here accosting my Imperial Navy).

I’ve also dug out some 30+ year old Ral Partha minis that I never got around to painting. I painted up a dragon and an Otyugh.

I also painted up a Gryph Hound for my Breachers’ Cyber Mastiff and my Hrud Rangers for my Ordo Chronos force, along with a proxy Jokaero Weapons Smith for my older Inquisition lists.

I have a bunch old old Ral Partha Star Frontiers and Gamma World minis that are on my hobby table, should be fun to paint them up!

Gribblies

Still finding no inspiration to draw, so I’m converting and painting Warhammer and RPG figs to keep me creative.

Ordo Chronos Retinue (so far)

Here is my version of a Warhammer 40K Admech (with Imperial Agents). My Inquisitor is a Time Lord of the Ordo Chronos, allied with Admech, searching for lost Time Travel Tech.

Much of this army also fill slots in my wishlist 2nd Edition Imperial Agents army that I’ve wanted since 2nd ed.

I have lots of kitbashed robots, Kitbashed Onager, a Disintegrator made from an old toy I got somewhere, and basically all the pieces are kitbashes of some sort.

I put together Electro Priests from Start Grave and Frost Grave minis, with Admech bits. I kitbashed them as I really dislike the GW minis. These are fun and a bit creepy. I have long wanted these guys since 2nd ed, and I finally have some!

I still have battle line units to paint up of Hrud Rangers and Admech Vanguard (tech priest squads in 2nd Ed.).

Warhammering is scratching an ich until I can get back to drawing.

Ordo Chronos Inquisitorial Entourage

Behold! The completed Ordo Chronos Inquisitorial Acolytes, lead my Inquisitor Rassilon.

My Inquisitor works closely with the Adeptus Mechanicus to find and acquire lost time travel tech and study it. His name is taken from the villainous Time Lord president from Doctor Who.

Lots of oldhammer, here, mixed with kitbashing. This was a fun project, decades in the making.

Ordo Hereticus So Far…

Since my brain has been broken and all attempts to draw have been fruitless, I’ve been still creating, by working on my Warhammer Army, Inquistorial Agents.

I’ve long (since 2nd Edition) wanted a full on Inquisitorial force. Always dug the vibe. Now, new Edition, new rules, new army!

So, I have a big block of Adeptus Arbites 22 of the old metal minis, and 9 that I kitbashed to look the part. I also have a bunch of the old 2nd Ed Sisters if Battle metal minis.

I’m also cobbling together 3 whole teams of Inquisition agents, to be led by my Inquisitors. When I get them done, I’ll post up new pics!!

Inquisition Motorpool

Here’s my Inquisitors’ rides. Some official rhinos, a scratch-built rhino, scratch-built chimera, scratch-built proxy Corvus Blackstar and proxy Immolator/chimeras. In the back are my proxy Russes for the allied guard I have.

I have the icons all affixed. These were just printed on label stock and stuck on.

I have a bunch more infantry to paint up, and some more Sisters as well. I’ll post more when I finish them.

Hutzcon ’24

Here, I ran my game, Backwaters of Mysticism, to close out the weekend. It had been quite a few years since I’ve played, let alone ran BOM, so I made a few mistakes. They were easily corrected and we had a good time of Cthulhu and carnage.

Playing with Brian Babyok, we’ve decided to work on tightening up the game and making a Third edition, specifically for Phineus, so there’s that.

Here’s pics of some of the other games.

We RPG’d “Everyday Heroes” with Justin. Great fun, 1980’s stuck in an alternate dimension. Chris ran us through Dresden Files as a Supernatural Strikeforce for the allies. Also fun.

We also played a bevvy of board games, miniature games and card games. My favs were “Unmatched” and “Unfathomable”.

Can’t wait to do it again, next year!

NPCs

Here’s the baddies for the Module I’m working on. Sorry about the lack of pages this week, I’ve been in game mode. I run the game the first time this weekend. I’m a little nervous!

Phineus Inspired art by Paul Schmitt

Here’s a couple of pieces of awesome and grizzly art, inspired by some gribblies I drew, that the lovely and talented Paul Schmitt of Gargantuan Media drew up! He made game pieces out of my game pieces!

Go check out his stuff, it’s awesome!!

Encounters for B.O.M.

Here’s the first two board setups for the session of Backwaters of Mysticism I’m running later this month. Knowing our group, we won’t get this far. Due to PCRPD (Player Character Role Play Distraction).

I’m getting pretty excited!!!

Character Sketches from Backwaters Sheets

I was going through all my gaming stuff (mostly Backwaters of Mysticism) and I found all my old character sheets. I’ve played a LOT of RPGs. Backwaters became my different groups’ go to system. . We mixed up the worlds with we played in. Some straight up fantasy (Rugnar was my Dwarven Priest if Thor), modern, modern fantasy, some space sci fi, Super heroes, Kung Fu, westerns, etc.

I really dig a lot of the character sketches I’d done for the characters, and no one has seen them. I thought I’d share them with you guys. You may see some of these guys show up in future comics, now that I’ve rediscovered them.

Character sheet meets tokens

So the tokens match the character sheets. I’ve also made “generic” versions of the characters, so that when they are played, the player can do what they want, despite the comic canon.

The Cult has stats, now!!

I’m going to do some play testing, soon, before I run this against my gaming group. It’s been a very long time since I’ve GMed a game! YEARS. Should be fun, though.

Cthulhu City

As longs as I’ve played Warhammer 40k, I’ve wanted a city of terrain. And now I have one!! I downloaded files from https://www.toposolitario.com/workshop/tableros.html and built a bunch very quickly and it looks great!

The tokens are tokens for my game Backwaters of Mysticism, tokens I made of the Infected Colonies for One Page Rules (they were official for a bit, until OPR got 3d printing and lost interest in supporting 2d printed armies). The tanks and cheap but awesome Robogear tanks.

I’ll be using all this for the game I’m running next month of Backwaters. Should be fun!!
