It’s 1989 and the Members of GD7 face off against a 40 story extra-dimensional nightmare.
In commemoration of the upcoming story written by Brian Babyok, I’ve decided to break out a story from the vaults about GD7. GD7 is a superhero group created for my universe by Brian. The following story is written by me about an incident mentioned in “The Great Jaguar Paw“.
This story has been available only in print and on my Patreon, until, now
As the last few pages of “Boy Wizards” are finished, I’ll be moving onto a few new comic projects.
I’ll be starting work on the new Phineus graphic novel, “Queen of the Cold Night” with Brian Babyok starting sometime in May. Once “Boy Wizard” is finished up, I’ll have design work and thumbnailing to do to get ready for the story to begin posting. As usual all my preliminary and work up stuff can be seen first on my Patreon. Check out Brian’s novel here on Amazon.
Next up, I’ll be starting a new Bonus story (also posting exclusively on my Patreon) that will go into what will be my next Trade paperback, The first volume of The Complete Magician for Hire. This story is called “Council of Phin’s”.
And thirdly, I’ll begin design work and thumbnails for the crossover between Phineus and Explorers of the Unknown with Shawn Atkins. This should be fun, as we’re doing a story plotted by Shawn, drawn the old Marvel way by me and inked by Shawn. Should be a lot of fun. Check out Shawn’s stuff here.
It’s going to be a fun year of new comics, new stories and new collaborations.
This week check back for the exciting finish to “Boy Wizards”!
I’m playing with penciling on paper, inking and coloring digitally. Mix things up a bit. I like digital art, but im trying to recapture something I lost in the transition.
And that is the end of our Maynard and Grimm storyline. It was started as an experiment for the local Pittsburgh comic group, 7X7. We disbanded in 2020, but I never like to keep anything unfinished, so I finished it. I am still working on the last few pages of the M&G bonus story over at my Patreon, “Night Before X-mas”. All will be included in a trade paperback, that may be available this spring!
This month into April, I’ll be finishing up the year long commission story I’ve been working on, as well completing “Maynard and Grimm” and “Boy Wizards”. I just finished up “Barcrawl of the Damned”, recently, as well. All these projects dragged on far too long, due to my car accident and also dealing with my depression and anxiety. I apologize for that.
Once these loose ends are all tied up, I’ll be starting on 2 new projects, both collaborations with friends of mine.
The regular ongoing story will be “Queen of the Cold Night”, written by Brian Babyok and art by me. This will post MWF on the main site, starting in May.
The bonus story will be “The Midnight Isle/ isla de medianoche” a collaboration with Shawn Atkinsand is a crossover of Phineus and his Explorers of the Unknown. He’s written a treatment, I’ll be drawing the story and Shawn will color and dialog. Updates will post jointly on both of our Patreons. This should also start in May.
So, that’s our plan. I want back to multiple pages a week, and regularity in making.
I was sent his pic of some old art someone of Facebook sent to me with questions of where they were used.
The black and white one was the line art for the first edition of The Complete Phineus Volume 1. The color one in the middle was going to be the cover for Issue #6, if I remember correctly ( I ended up using a Photo of myself from photo class as Rotwang).
The third one, I completely forgot about. I believe I did some color pics for when John Burris and I ran Backwaters RPG at gaming conventions. It was a blast from the past!
I still get freaked out by art I’d forgotten I’d drawn, even 30 years ago!
Here’s a character concept for a new Brian Babyok scripted Phineus story called, “Phineus – Queen of the Cold Night“. Coming soon, after I finish up a few other stories, first!
OG Weirdlings. This was a commission for Brian Babyok, early on. He’d revamp the cast and premise for when we eventually did our Weirdlings strip. Wow. 1996.
I’m not sure if any of you regular readers of Phineus have read or are also fans of the other (now finished) web comic I did. The Weirdlings strip was started by Brian Babyok and I and ran for 3 1/2 years. It started as a webcomic sit com about a guys who lived next to Cthulhu, and warped into so much more! Weird, disturbing, wonderful and damn funny, I am very proud of the work I did over there. If you haven’t read WEIRDLINGS, head on over and check it out!
