The Annotated Mage: The Hero Discovered

This is a pretty cool site. It summarizes “Mage” and gives alot of background into it as well.

Mage is the groundbreaking comic by Creator and comic god, Matt Wagner.

If you are as big a geek about Mage as I am, you’ll dig it, too!

He breaks down each issue, points out major plot points, and shows the mythological roots of the characters, monsters and themes explored in the series.

Really well thought out and well done. Check it out!

I wanted to do a comic plug for Cosmic Hellcats this time around partly because they plugged Phineus a while back and partly because we Pittsburgh Guys need to stick together!

This comic is brought to you by Chris Maverick (Writer/Photographer) and  Maximilian (Art).

The comic follows the adventures of a band of Cat-girl space marines of a sort. There are aliens, space pirates, robots and evil science! Cosmic Hellcats is a space opera and pinup comic all rolled into one!

Picture 1

The other neat twist to the comic and the site is that all the girls are based on models, that Chris has photo-shoots of. The girls also make appearances at shows and look hot, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Chris also has lots of galleries of his other photo-shoots as he is a very accomplished photographer!

Head on over to http://cosmichellcats.com/  and check out all their great stuff!

So, I will be attending the Pittsburgh Comicon on Saturday, this year. I have been invited to share space with the lovely and talented Jon Towers!

Jon is amazing! Not only does he have awesome comics, with great art and stories, but he’s the only guy I know who draws more than I do! Jon does a series of books, mainly about an odd assortment of heroes, called The Non-Standard Assembly. You must go and read his large catalog of comics! Go, now swiftly!

Plus, head on down the the Pittsburgh Comicon April 24,25 & 26 to meet Jon and buys stuff from the two of us!

Hey, in conjunction with Webcomic Planet Collective’s  Comic Plug Circle, I got an AWESOME review of Phineus over at Keith Smith’s Karmic Debt!

Keith does a fun Comic strip/Sketch blog and writes excellent reviews!

I especially love his HOW TO section! Head on over and show him some love by checking his comic out!

Score! Thanks, Man!

Epic Fail!

Picture 2 So, it’s “Plug Circle” week over at The Webcomic Planet Collective. This is where we , as members, plug each other’s comic on our own sites, and vice versa.

This round I decided to do Amy Letts’ EPIC FAIL. I decided to do this one as Amy and I have a lot in common.

First Amy’s and my screen names are taken from our main characters, her’s is Amuletts, a thief/cleric of the story.

Next, we both write and draw fantasy comics. Granted, mine is fantasy/horror/sci fi and is modern, but at the core it’s all fantasy! Obviously, we both love and were deeply affected by D&D.

Lastly, both comics don’t take themselves too seriously, there is a good deal of the funny and the fun.

Picture 1Now, Amy’s take on the classic fantasy story is very classic. I see it as sort of a cross between Larry Elmore’s Snarfquest and The D&D TV cartoon from the 80’s. I’m not saying that that’s where Amy got her influences, as she lives in England and I’m not sure if they even had that cartoon or Dragon Magazine, but that’s what her stuff reminds me of.

Additionally we have both done Guest art for each other, which I have already posted on the site, here & here.

The comic is great fun and really well done, so go check it out. Now is a perfect time to get in on it as Amy is starting the story back up soon and it gives you guys time to read the archive and be ready for the comics return!

Now, go, swiftly and show her some love!

If you’ve never read the brilliance of Matt Feazell’s work, you’re selling yourself short. Matt’s stuff is brilliant, funny, well drawn(yes it IS a stick figure) and all-around wonderful! I’ve known Matt for years and he’s a neat guy, I never fail to pick up his new stuff whenever I see him at shows. Great stuff! Head over to his site and check out his comics, or see him at a show. You’ll thank me!

TGT Webcomics Podcasts

My comic plug for the Webcomic Planet Collective for this week isn’t a webcomic at all. It’s a fun podcast about webcomics by Host(s): Kurt “VertigoX” Sasso & Phil “Frumph” Hofer (who also acts as the Webcomic Planet Regional God), as they interview webcomic creators about their stuff.

I was interviewed in December 2008 here by the guys.

The guys have been at it since 2008, amassing quite an archive of great shows with guests that are the pantheon of who’s who in the webcomic world! They’ve interview the likes of ME. Plus some really famous and talented creators, from Scott and Benita Story, Scott Sava, Chuck and Steve Rowles, Jamie Robinson,Gisele Legase’, Brock Heasley, Jennie Breeden, Eldon Cowgur and the list goes on and on!

They record the show, live , usually on Friday Nights at 9PM EST,so you can blog in and become a part of the broadcast, or you can peruse the archive and listen to 60-some odd podcasts they have available.

I highly recommend heading on over and checking them out!

Phineus Review

Mirrored from Phinmagic.com.

Mav and the nice folks over at Cosmic Hellcats did a very nice review of Phineus over at their site. Mav is a fellow Webcomicplanet Collective member and a fellow Pittsburgher so head on over and read the review and some of his comics as well!

Rick the Stick comic plug

Mirrored from Phinmagic.com.

Rick the Stick is the story of a stickman amongst non-stickmen. Rick is a direct descendant of the original stickman and is rich from royalties paid by anyone drawing a stick figure!(that’s why I don’t draw stick figures!)

This is a silly webcomic in the best sense of the word and this guy is prolific! He updates 5 days a week, so there’s plenty of archive to read through!

Ken Drab has a great sense of humor and a great sense of community, with lots of insites and comments nearly every day (I need to do more of that). Ken is also a member of our Webcomic Planet collective and has posted this great article as well.

Head on over, read his stuff and enjoy the world of Rick the Stick!

Vote early and vote often!

Zed Reckoning Comic Plug

Mirrored from Phinmagic.com.

shapeimage_1m_f554131545d0f3710dd753f55ecbc3feI’ve been reading this comic for a while, and now it’s part of our very own Rampage Network, so Cool! I describe it as A Rockabilly Zombie Apocalypse shown on Viewmaster.

The site describes it as; “It’s about a Zombie named Zed, who has his soul tucked away in a suitcase.   Zed’s goal is simple;  he’s trying to find a way to reunite his soul with his body.  He is determined to become whole again.

However, they are not the only ones interested in Zed’s soul.

Zed is being hunted by an ancient race of spider-like beings and their legion of zombies. Under the orders of the necromancer, Baron Astor, they are to bring Zed’s soul back to Astor so he can finalize his heinous plot, the eradication of his enemies souls with an ancient device known as the soul scorcher.

The story and art are deftly done by Matt Munn, you can read it at http://www.zombiegrotto.com/.

Here are a couple strips I did a while ago for a jam webcomic about weird pro-wrestling!

One of my comic heroes, Les McClain is one of the originators and artists on this , so I headed over to try my hand! There’s some weird and wonderful stuff over here so check it out!

Zomben

212a78337da5097de7a7ada769fcae7b

This is the clever and terribly well-drawn story of a slacker cartoonist, granted the “Gift” of turning into a zombie by the god of death, Anubis. He uses his new -found powers to fight evil and take on bad guys! It’s brilliantly illustrated by Ben Steeves and is a hell of a lot of fun! Check it out! Zomben is a part of the Rampage Network, as is Phineus! I’ll be doing plugs for the many awesome comics that Rampage has to offer, probably on Thurdays!

Ashtray3

Mirrored from Phinmagic.com.

a3ad_468x60

As a member of the Collective over at WebComic Planet, I’ll be doing plugs for fellow Collective Members, probably on Tuesdays. First up is the gorgously drawn and vaguely bizarre story of Ashtray3. It’s the story of a human girl, trapped in a world of strange creatures who are allegic to water! Describing this comic really does no justice, so head on over to Ahtray3 and show some love!!
