All the monsters! Wow, how many of these things have I used in Phineus? How many more will I put in? Ray, I love and will miss you!
Talos by Harryhausen
Another of Harryhausen’s gags that I’m using in the comic. (Oops! I’ve said too much!)
Ray Harryhausen’s Kali!
In keeping with our Ray Harryhausen theme, this week another great scene from the master! This one has it all! Harryhausen! Kali! (One of the influences on using Kali in the current storyline) and pre-Doctor Who Tom Baker!
Classic!
Ray Harryhausen 1920- 2013
One of my biggest heroes and influences since I was a kid and my babysitter Susan took me to see “Jason and the Argonauts” has been Ray Harryhausen. He was a master of animation, stopmotion and special effects in so many movies for so long a time.
He added so much character and life to the little rubber puppets that inhabited the worlds he created.
He acted through his dolls in a way that you rarely see in CGI.
From Mighty Joe Young, to alien flying saucers , to an army of skeleton warriors and even a hydra and Kali, herself, he brought them all to life, by hand one frame at a time.
I became a film maker because of Ray, made my own stop motion monster movies in my basement. Sewed my own dinosaur puppets to animate and majored in animation, widely because of him.
I recorded and watched “Clash of the Titans” EVERY DAY for 3 years when I was a kid. All because of Ray.
Ray passed away, today at 93.
He will be missed. God bless, sir.

Old school “The Path” fan art
This was fan art I did for James Riot (our benevolent overlord here at ODK and creator of “The Path”) way back in 2006 for a contest he was having on his Drunk Duck comic. This was also the impetus for our friendship, as well.
It’s newly colored and spiffy!
He didn’t know me from Adam (not Black), before I drew this. Funny how art can change the world, no? Wow, 7 years!

Process Blog
Here are some of the (NSFW) sketches I do for the comic. I have a concept design for Ganesh, here, plus a couple pages from Chapter 5 and pages for the guest story I did for Adam Black’s Locus comic.
I always work at 8 x 12, old school on paper with pencil and markers. I use a good old clip board, usually on my lap in front of my tv, while I watch movies, Supernatural or hockey.
I find it much easier to draw smaller and it makes my line work look awesome.
The Locus pages were done 24 Hour Comic style as I did start it back in October as a 24HCD.
Just a little peek into my comic madness.

The History of Phineus pt 2: Sara Beam
The non-magical half of our paranormal partners is Phineus’ wife, Sara. Archeologist. Ex-superhero. Expert marksman. Badass. She first appeared in “Dismember Me When Your Gone“.
I am the Doctor, and I am Afraid!
This new 2nd half of Season 7 seems a lot like a whole new season. I’m really digging on Clara Oswin Oswald. As much as I loved Amy Pond, Oswin’s killer, too!
Can’t wait for March 30th!
