I’ve always wanted to do a Norse mythology children’s book. I did a bunch of studies a while back. I may think of revisiting this idea in the future.

There is a new weirdlings up today, I’m really digging the colors, I’ve found a way that not only looks better than my old way, it’s faster! Yay!

I will not have a new Sara page this week, I have a new Wrestling Theatre strip that I have drawn, I’ll letter it and post it tomorrow for y’all!

Here was one of the studies that I did for “The Glamour”, the prequel to my Phineus series, by Brian Babyok, Myself and Marshall Dillon on letters. We have a directors cut coming out this fall with my origianl art inked by Xeric award winner Wayne Wise. With a new cover by Byron Winton!

THIS WEEK

Hello, all!

Just thought I’d give you all a heads up on what’s up this week.
I have been working on this weeks Weirdlings comics, good stuff and an interesting new story line.

I also have been working on prepping all my comics for print, look for the online store for Strumhaus stuff this fall!

This is a drawing of my space marine commander , Magnus Ver Magnussen, for my Chapter “The Imperial Frogz”.

I should have all this and next weeks Weirdlings strips done this week, and I hope to sneek in a Sara page to boot. I will also be doing anotherWrestling Theatre strip coming up this week as well!

Weirdlings

HEllo, all. We will have a new strip up today at http://www.weirdlings.com , so check it out.

SO this week I skipped my Sara page this week, since I had done two last week. Not to be lazy, but to work on Weirdlings stuff. Tonight I drew Mondays strip. It may not seem like alot, but any new “set” I do a very detailed picture of it , color it and use it to be dropped in behind my characters on sunbsequent strips. Monday we introduce new characters and a whole new story arc that should be really cool.

starting with mondays strip I am going to be trying to kick it up a notch with the colors, trying to set mood with them like those in the old “Crimson” comics. We’ll see how that goes.

Terror of Leap Castle

Here’s the new page, “Fior” is Gaelic for “Beware”.

I haven’t worked on my Sara page this week, yet. Tonight I drew two pages of bonus material for our Volume 1 Weirdlings compilation, due out this fall.

I also worked on character studies for a new Weirdlings story arc. You’ll meet these characters next week.

I am really exited in the direction that both the strip and my work is going. You are welcome to tag along for the ride!

The Djinn

I thought on my off days I’d share with you other artwork I’d done, color stuff you guys may not have seen in color, stuff from my sketchbooks and the like. Today is one of my more painterly attempts, called the Djinn, I did this in chalk pastels 24 x 36. It’s kinda fun. I haven’t used this medium in a while, I should play with them some more.

Sara: One Shot # 9

Hello , all. Here is my new Sara page. It was kind of an interesting, bumble around the house being an idiot, page. But fun. It also has a gratuitous Phineus Butt shot!

Tonight was a good drawing night, I finished my strip for Wrestling Theatre, It goes up Wed, I’ll post it for all to see. I also got Wed Weirdlings done and Fridays pencilled. I’ll finish it and do all the computer stuff tomorrow, so I have a fresh pallot for more Sara pages!

So, Brian has us doing parodies in the forsm of Wil’s strip remix theatre. I have been trying to differentiate his and my art by trying to draw more simply and make the color art flatter, with less backgrounds. Today, we have a Cthuhlu/Dukes of Hazzard parody. Enjoy!

Sara : One Shot Page # 8

It’s 3:30 am, look what I do for you!
This period in Phin’s life is an interesting one. It is just after a Death spell from Rotwang gave him a heart attack and he’s really gone to hell.

I gave him the heart attack and ended the first volume on that note, at a particularly dark time in my life, at the time I was getting divorced. To be honest I wasn’t sure if he would live or die, as I felt myself.

Ineterstingly, there are two stories, taking place right around this point, both written by others, and both have Phineus in a shower scene. Odd, that.

Something Weird…ling

You guys wanna see something very odd, this is a drawing of the very same charachters we do in our webcomic Weirdlings, in their first incarnation.

I did this for Brian at our very first Pittsburgh Comicon together, way back in 1996, TEN years ago. We had no idea what this would turn into. It was to be a graphic novel originally drawn by someone that’s not me! Either Scott Hedlund or Tim Etchison, I can’t remember.

Pretty neat, thought you guys would get a kick out of it.

Stuff

It has come to my attention that I should talk to you guys more, rather than just post new stuff. I’ll give it a go, keep in mind I am the worlds shittiest typist, hunt and peck hell.

I have no new Sara for you at this time. Now, don’t start, whining, I do have it all drawn, and a second to boot. I just don’t have them scanned in and lettered.

I typically work on my pages at work, I run a digital printing press and I have a few minutes in between prints, so I sit and draw. Unfortunately, this week I’ve been getting home all too late and with two small children, haven’t had the time to do the computer thing. I will , however get this done tomorrow morning, and if yoy’re extra good, I’ll give ya two pages for your trouble, only if you’re good.

Let me give you an Itinerery for my stuff in the rest of this year:

I am now about 1/4 of the way through the Sara: One Shot, I’ll finish that up and start a new Phineus story involving werewolves!! I am currently doing about 2 pages a week in addition to all the Weirdlings strips. If I actually accomplish all this I will have put out, this year
, the equivalent of SIX comics. Terror of Leap Castle, Sara: One Shot(a double size Issue), Weirdlings first compilation (should be out in Sept),The new Phineus story and the better part of a second Weirdlings comp. That’s pretty productive for me…

Let me ask you all, the new Phin story, should I do it like a strip, putting out one every few days and amassing a book a little at a time like Les McClaines’ Jonny Crossbones at http://www.evilspacerobot.com/comics/jonnycrossbones/archive/01.htm ?
